Surfing WA State Titles - Rottnest

Star is very proud of our young team riders Harry Mcpherson (above) and Jake Edwards (below) for each putting in a solid performance in the Surfing WA HIF Pro Am event held at Rottnest two weeks ago.
The boys performed very well in the solid conditions with Harry taking out the win in the blue ribbbon Men's Open division and placing 4th in the Pro Junior and Jake placing 3rd in the Pro Junior.
Well done guys!

Mandurah Board Riders

Mandurah Boardriders held their second senior contest for the year in solid swell at Gearies, the first contest for the boardriders at this venue in some years. The decision to split the club into the Juniors being run in the Summer and the Seniors in the winter has paid dividends. The contests now only run in optimum conditions and plenty of old names have been returning to the club with the level of surfing being phenomenal.
The club had six girls fight it out in the Open Women division and Star's Skipper Van Peer dominated the event to take it out in the challenging conditions first up in the morning.
The Pro Junior division was a hard fought result with two more Star team riders being separated by 0.5 of a point. Eventual winner Ace Van Peer ended up beating out the rampaging Harry Macpherson. who was fresh off a win the day before at Rottnest. Harry has been inform after a month long sojourn to Indo and it showed in the level of his surfing.
Harry continued his form to a second place finish in the Open Men’s, behind new comer to the club Tom Ronald who surfed consistently all day including the only successful barrel of the day.The Masters Division was taken out by Mat Wilson and the Senior Men’s was won also by a new comer to the club in Lee Jones.

City Beach Surf Riders Juniors

On the last weekend of June , the City Beach Juniors picked a gap in the weather and scored fun waves at their local break. There was some awesome surfing going down with Star team rider Alex McGuffin (above) taking out the win and another Star team rider, Moses Le Grice, scoring a perfect 10 for a long barrel ride (below). Thanks to VISSLA for hooking the groms up with some epic prizes!
