Mandurah Board Riders Junior club held its second contest for the summer series on the weekend at Pyramids beach.
With perfect little waves and some great conditions in the morning even a suspected shark sighting was not going to keep these kids from the water and attacking the waves, show casing how well their surfing skills are flourishing with the high level of competition.
Maverick Wilson hot off his win in the Wahoo Grom comp in Perth the previous weekend was unstoppable in the under 8 boys final. Taking apart some nice little waves to beat Sunny Higgins, Sam Baker and Lexan King in that order.
Zali Corry showed she is a force to be reckoned with in the under 12 Girls Final taking off and riding some very challenging waves. Zali also competed in the Wahoo Grom comp and managed to place third in a much more experienced field in doing so being Mandurah Board Riders highest placed girls member in that event.
One of the biggest stand outs in the weekend's competition was young Toby Jenkins (pictured above) who hot off a recent surfing trip to Indonesia absolutely destroyed his competition to take out the Under 10 boys. Including a perfect ten point ride in his semi Final appearance. Toby showed superior wave choice and attacked the lip all day to become a deserving winner.
Mandurah Board riders have welcomed so many new members and have enjoyed the healthy turn out and participation in all of our divisions. We would like to thank all the parents and sponsors that make these events a possibility for the junior surfers and we look forward to seeing you all at the next event at Pyramids beach on the 14th of December at 7:00am.
