Surfing is an awesome way to stay healthy, improving muscle and core strength and cardiovascular fitness, while enjoying the great outdoors. In addition, surfing can serve as the ultimate outlet for stress and tension release.
Surfing WA is our state's governing body for surfing. SWA is also home to one of the largest surf schools in the country, putting over 31,000 West Australian’s through their SunSmart Learn to Surf and Learn to Stand Up Paddle programs. All Surfing WA coaches are nationally accredited and use top quality Star soft-top surfboards.
“We use the STAR soft surfboards almost exclusively, and have done so for over 10 years. The range of sizes suit nearly all stages of the SunSmart learn to surf programs and are designed to be super stable. We can have over 1200 kids per week coming through our school in peak periods, and Star Softboards consistently pass the durability test.”

TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT SOFTBOARD
If you are unsure what size softboard to buy, we suggest doing a lesson with Mandurah Surf Lessons or Surfing WA. Remember it is always better if you are able to try some equipment first before purchasing a board.
Be honest with yourself if you are only starting out. It is always best to choose a slightly bigger board as the most important aspect of learning to surf is to have a board that is stable on the water and enables you to catch waves.
